Justin Spruit is a lecturer at the Institute of Political Science at Leiden University. In 2021, he earned a BSc in Public Administration with a specialisation in Policy, Governance, and Organisation, followed by an MSc in Political Science with a specialisation in Dutch Politics in 2022, both from Leiden University. In his master’s thesis, he conducted quantitative research on the power of the Dutch Prime Minister.

In 2024, he also completed an MA in International Relations with a specialisation in European Union Studies at the same university. In this master’s thesis, he investigated the de facto transfer of the European policy portfolio from the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister.

Justin Spruit has a particular interest in the position and power of the Dutch Prime Minister and is currently in the final stages of submitting his PhD proposal on this subject.
