Jil Poirters is a lecturer in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the Institute for Criminal Law & Criminology. In 2023, she completed the honors program of the Bachelor's degree in Law (Utrecht Law College) at Utrecht University. After completing her bachelor's degree, she completed a master's degree in Criminal Law at Utrecht University and a master's degree in Forensic Criminology at Leiden University. During her studies, among other things, she completed various internships at law firms and volunteered at the Juridisch Spreekuur Gedetineerden (JSG). She has been a lecturer at Leiden University since 2025.

Teaching

Jil teaches the Introduction to Criminal Law course (bachelor's) and the Practicum course (master's in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure). She also supervises students in writing their bachelor's theses.
