Jian Wang is Assistant Professor of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management at SBB.
Jian Wang is Assistant Professor of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management at SBB. Before joining Leiden University he was fellow at the Labor and Worklife Program, Harvard Law School (USA) and postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Managerial Economics, Strategy and Innovation, KU Leuven (Belgium). He studies science and innovation and in particular the interface between them, integrating various disciplinary perspectives, such as economics, sociology, management, and public policy. His recent research focuses on novelty in science and innovation, factors stimulating novel research, such as funding schemes and team and network structures, and the translation of science into innovation. His research builds on big data analytics and advanced statistical and data mining methods. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Public Policy and a M.S. degree in Statistics, both from Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), and a M.A. degree in Applied Economics and a B.A. degree in Journalism, both from Tsinghua University (China). He currently serves on the editorial board of Research Evaluation. At SBB he teaches the Business Research Methods course and oversees SBB internships.
