PhD research

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry, 1945-1955
Supervisors: David Henley (LIAS) and Remco Raben (Utrecht University)

My research aims to study the Indonesian Foreign Ministry in its first ten years of service. It purposes to study not only the institution, but also tries to link the ministry with events surrounding series of conference between Indonesia and the Netherlands during Indonesian struggle of independence (1945-1949) and challenges faced by the Indonesians in implementing their foreign policy until 1955, when they successfully organized the first Asian-African Conference. Integrating those two aspects will give a new insight to study of Indonesian first years of independence. Financial and recruitment aspects will also be part of this research.
