Feike Fliervoet is a lecturer at Leiden University’s Institute of Political Science.

Her research focuses on the conflict dynamics of civil wars, and more specifically on the internal divisions of insurgent movements. She defended her doctoral thesis on this subject, entitled ‘Friends or Foes: Explaining Cohesion in Secessionist Movements,’ in 2022. Her broader research interests include questions of sovereignty and self-determination, political violence, and rebel governance.

Feike Fliervoet holds a PhD degree in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute, an MSc degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Leiden University, and a BSc degree in International Development Studies from Wageningen University.
