More information about Eline Dekeyster

Since 2022, Eline has been working as a lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience at Leiden University. She combines her academic scientific expertise with her experience from the business world, to shape her lectures, work sessions and coaching.

Eline’s career in science was born from her keen interest to understand the nature of things coupled with a desire to make a positive impact to the world. For four years she conducted research at the University of Leuven, within the Neural Development and Regeneration research group. Eline studied the link between glaucoma and the visual areas in the brain. Innovative neuromodulating techniques, including optogenetics, were used to obtain neuroprotection. After obtaining her PhD in 2015, Eline continued to work at KU Leuven for another year, with her focus on developing education.

In 2016, she moved to the Netherlands for a job at Janssen Vaccines in Leiden, part of the global company Johnson and Johnson. For six years, Eline has worked for Johnson and Johnson in various positions: from scientist in the lab to project leader on clinical trials. The highlight of these six years was her involvement in the approval of the Ebola vaccine for use during the epidemic in Congo in 2018.
