Duygu Merve Uysal is a lecturer at the Institute of Political Science.
Duygu Merve Uysal holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations (2015) with a joint BA in Psychology (2016) and an MA in Political Science and International Relations (2018). Her master’s thesis examined how empathy and perceived threat shape attitudes toward immigrants in Türkiye. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the Migration Research Center (MiReKoc).
She is currently pursuing a joint PhD in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam and Koç University. Her dissertation investigates how perceptions of group entitlements and distinct emotional reactions—particularly compassion, anger, and anxiety—influence exclusionary attitudes toward immigrants across entry and post-entry policy domains. Her research interests revolve around political psychology, migration studies, and public opinion. Methodologically, her research employs quantitative approaches, including observational data analysis, experiments, and survey design.
