As a Service Scientist - Research Data Management, I combine Data Stewardship functions with my role as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Science & Technology Studies (CWTS). The aim of this hybrid role is to ensure a continuous feedback loop between research on RDM/Open Science policies, practices, and infrastructure development, and the practical support-oriented activities my colleagues and I carry out in these domains.

On the 'service' side, I contribute to the co-development of RDM policy for the Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences (FSW), support researchers in Cultural Anthropology & Development Sociology (CADS) and CWTS in responsible and sustainable RDM, and participate in several university-wide initiatives focused on RDM policy and tooling. On the 'scientist' side, I carry out research under the auspices of the newly-launched Open Science Lab at CWTS. Here, I lead a portfolio of projects aiming to improve our understandings of how research policies, practices, and infrastructure/tooling can be made more 'open' and 'FAIR' while simultaneously safeguarding the diversity of domain-specific workflows and epistemic commitments.

Among my current projects, I co-coordinate a Horizon Europe-funded feasibility study on implementing machine-actionable Data Management Plans; I am developing a conceptual framework for RDM and Open Science in the social sciences with a focus on qualitative, ethnographic, and interpretivist approaches; and, along with several colleagues, I have initiated a national learning community focused on Publication Packages.

Additionally, I am involved in several local and (inter)national initiatives including our university's maDMP Proto-ThinkTank and Data Steward Career Paths working group, the Open Science Community Leiden (OSCL), and the international Data Stewards Interest Group (DSIG).
