Alper H. Yagci is a visiting researcher at Leiden University’s Institute of Political Science.
Alper H. Yagci is an associate professor of political science at Bogazici University in Turkey and a visiting researcher at Leiden University’s Institute of Political Science. His research focuses on political economy, institutions, and voter behavior. Currently, he is working on the effects of presidential rhetoric and paths towards authoritarianism in presidential systems.
Dr. Yagci received his PhD (2016) in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA. Additionally, he was a visiting researcher at the Berlin Social Science Research Center (WZB), Germany. He is a recipient of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Award. He has used a variety of methods in his research, including survey data, experiments, data mining through machine-learning algorithms, and elite interviews. His work has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, Party Politics, New Political Economy, Journal of European Public Policy, Government and Opposition, Electoral Studies, Public Choice, and Mediterranean Politics, among others. He is the Turkey coordinator for the World Elite Database (WED) project.
