Alain Ancery joined Institute of Private Law as a Guest Staff Member on 1 February 2020.
Alain Ancery (Zwolle, 1984) studied Law (private law and criminal law) and Functionality of the Law at the University of Groningen from 2002 to 2008. Following his graduation, Alain was appointed as PhD candidate and teacher at the University of Groningen. He was awarded his PhD on the Ex Officio Application of EU Law in 2012. Alain was a Policy Officer for the Liberal Party in the House of Parliament from 2012 to 2013 and then joined the Supreme Court of the Netherlands as a law clerk; a position he held until 2018. From 2014 to 2016, Alain worked part-time as an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen's Department of Private and Notarial Law. Alain is currently Senior Legal Counsel for Financial Markets at ING Bank N.V.
Alain regularly publishes articles on all kinds of topics related to the interaction between EU law and civil law and on the interaction between civil law and financial law.
