Controlling quantum systems is a uniquely difficult task, because observing your quantum state disturbs it. Solving this task requires smart algorithms, and AI techniques such as reinforcement learning will help. Current state-of-the-art AI algorithms fall short at quantum control, and to teach AIs how to do so we need to provide structured environments for them to learn in. Converting a quantum problem into a well-structured environment is not trivial, and in this project we turn to games and game theory to explore this. The result will be novel AI training algorithms and novel quantum control methods.
