The project will co-create a shared vision for doctoral education, establish or enhance doctoral schools and develop regulatory frameworks, organisational structures, and curricula, including digital modules. By investing in research capacity, SEECR-CONGO seeks to equip early career researchers with the skills needed to harness the DRC’s vast natural, social and cultural resources for sustainable development and innovation.
This project is coordinated by KU Leuven and funded under the 2025 Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) call. The consortium brings together leading institutions from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland. The ASCL's Mayke Kaag is Leiden University’s contact person.
