Summer Schools: A way to rexpand your knowledge and explore new cities
Lena, a student of the Crisis and Security Management master at Leiden University, discovered the possibility of attending a Summer School through her study programme. She chose to attend one in Jena, Germany, at Friedrich Schiller University.
'The programme offered there, Planning for Peace: Understanding Multidimensionality and Integration in United Nations Peace Operations, was very intriguing to me and aligned well with my master’s studies.'
During the summer school, Lena expanded her knowledge of UN Peace Operations and got to experience how different master's programs teach the subjects she is interested in.
'The best part of my time in Jena was getting to know the city and spending time with fellow students, enjoying wonderful summer weather.'
At Jena, Lena made connections that lasted beyond the summer school. Some of her peers, in fact, were able to do meet with Lena in The Hague during their Erasmus exchange. Lena strongly encourages anyone who has some interest in summer schools to apply as it is the perfect occasion to combine a visit to a new city or a new country with academic learning.
