Janneke Wesseling gives Keynote presentation at Symposium in Porto
On November 6th PhDArts Co-Director Dr. Janneke Wesseling has given a keynote presentation, entitled “On Methodology”, at the Symposium Conversations on Artistic Research in Porto (PRT).
The international discussion on method and methodology in artistic research has produced a large amount of literature by art theorists and has resulted in the formation of specific departments of artistic research in universities and art academies. Are artist-researchers and art theorists seriously pursuing an answer to the dilemmas posed by the academic community, such as the demand for methodology and for academic assessment criteria, or are we just staging our roles in the play of productivity in the terms generated by the Bologna agreement? Where do artistic practice and academic research meet and how do they relate to each other?
This symposium is organized by the Research Group of Arts Education of the Research Institute in Arts, Design and Society, Faculty of Visual Arts, University of Porto, on 6 and 7 November 2014.
