Staying engaged throughout your studies: the role of recovery
Student life can be intense: you often have exams, need to read a lot, and feel the pressure to reach high grades. What can you do in your free time to make sure that you have enough energy to invest effort in your studies and feel well? In the field of Occupational Health Psychology, we know a lot about what employees can do in their free time to have enough energy to function well in their daily work. In this lecture, you will learn several of these principles that you can use as a student to flourish in your studies.
Speaker: Juriena de Vries
Homework assignment
This is a short writing assignment. Write down three activities that you do in your free time to relax. For each activity, indicate on a scale from 1 (no energy at all) – 5 (a lot of energy), to what extent these activities help you to gain energy for your study work. Lastly, indicate the reasons why you think the activity gives you energy (or not). We will discuss your answers in the lecture and see if scientific studies support your ideas.
The Role of the Therapeutic Alliance in Effective Therapy
This mini lecture will give insight into working as a psychotherapist in a private practice, for example, the educational path to follow, what types of clients you will entail and some pro’s and con’s
Speaker: Jacqueline Guicherit
Homework assignment
Read this article about the role of the therapeutic alliance and consider whether you would see yourself as a therapist. Why or why not?
