Volume 3 of Panoramic. The Leiden Art Review will be published soon. The academic journal of the Art History Department, it contains articles by students from the BA tracks Kunst en Cultuur and Arts, Media and Society and from the MA Arts and Culture and is created entirely by students from the BA3 course "The Academic Art of Publishing": from editing the articles and writing book reviews, to providing the cover, promotion and the organization of a final symposium.
Each volume has two editions: part 1 is largely focused on older art, from medieval grisaille panels, work by Pieter Claesz and the development of witch prints by Hans Baldung Grien, but also contains articles about modern artists such as Mark Manders. The edition contains texts in Dutch and English. Part 2 focuses on modern and contemporary art and is entirely in English. It includes essays on the work of Diane Burko, the international reception of Mithila art, the role of gender and technology in Dada and Andreas Gurky's installation Amazon.
Each part also contains two book reviews and a discussion of a current exhibition.
Both editions of Panoramic are printed on a pre-order basis and can now be ordered via our website: https://panoramicartreview.my.canva.site/. For non-students the price is 9.50 euros (excluding postage costs). The presentation will be on Friday, May 22 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM during the symposium, where you are very welcome, but for which you must register via our website. Those who pick up their copies during the symposium or by appointment at the university do not pay postage.
