Since the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, on 8 December 2024, there are notable signs of hope and change within the country. Interim-president al-Shara, who completely abandoned the path of Jihadism, has openly expressed the importance of equal rights for men, women and young people.
What are the chances for women to play a significant role within Syria’s political process, and within Syria’s in general? And how can this positive development affect the region?
We will watch the moving documentary ‘For Sama’ (2019) by Waad Al-Kateab (Syrian journalist, filmmaker, and activist) together, followed by brief scientific lectures by Ugur Ümit Üngör and Ali Aljasem, and a panel discussion with Saraa Saleh, Linda Bilal and Cosette Molijn.
From 17.00 -18.30 there is time for drinks and conversations.
