A semester course for professionals
Are you working in the fields of machine learning or operations research? And are you involved in systems that need to continuously adapt to incoming information in order to improve performance?
Interactive Machine Learning focuses on making smart decisions while simultaneously collecting data — a key challenge in applications where no existing datasets are available. You will learn how models can improve continuously through feedback on predictions. The course covers three types of feedback: full information, stochastic bandits and non-stochastic bandits. Algorithms such as UCB, EXP3 and the perceptron are among those discussed. For businesses, this course offers valuable insights into data-driven decision-making under uncertainty and in dynamic environments.
The course workload is expressed in ECs (European Credits), with 1 EC equalling 28 hours of study. The fee is €163 per EC. This includes lectures, tutorials, exams and one resit (if needed). Study materials are not included. Cancellation is possible up to two weeks before the course starts, with a full refund of the course fee. After that point, refunds are no longer possible, even in cases of force majeure, illness, or other circumstances.
Each of the three courses offered is worth 6 ECs.
- Registration is open until Sunday 25 August 2025.
- After submitting your registration form, you will receive an invoice.
- Once we have received your payment, you will receive a confirmation.
- A student account and student number will then be requested. Without a student number, you cannot be enrolled in a course and are not entitled to participate.
- Contract students will be registered for lectures and/or tutorials, the exam, and the resit.
Each course includes one main exam (or multiple partial exams) and one resit per academic year. If you do not pass the exam on the first attempt, you are allowed to take the resit within the same academic year.
