The Tech Coup; How to Save Democracy from Silicon Valley’ by Marietje Schaake
We have decided to continue, at least for the next round of discussions and book, with one big group. This should give us some extra diversity of perspectives in the discussion. The idea is to have an online meeting, allowing more flexibility in attendance, and also giving people who do not live in Leiden a chance to participate. But for those in and around the KOG-building: you are welcome to join Francien in the meeting room where she will be hosting the session.
We propose to read as next book: ‘The Tech Coup; How to Save Democracy from Silicon Valley’ by Marietje Schaake is a Dutch Politician who served as a member of the European Parliament, she is the international director of policy at Stanford's Cyber Policy Center, as well as an International Policy Fellow at the University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. The book is available at all your usual shops as well as digitally from the Leiden University Library (login required).
In the current geopolitical climate, this book seems more than just topical and should give food for thought and debate. The upcoming spring holidays should give you time and opportunity to read this inspiring book.
Please let us know if you would like to attend this AI Book Club. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
