Professor Lewis is a University Distinguished Professor and Director of the Antimicrobial Discovery Center at Northeastern University in Boston. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Microbiology and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

His research focuses on the development of general methods to grow previously uncultured bacteria that make up >99% of biodiversity on the planet. In applying these methods, the Lewis group has made a number of high profile natural product antibiotic discoveries, most notably teixobactin (Nature 2015), darobactin (Nature 2019) and evybactin (Nature Chemical Biology 2022).

If you would like to meet Prof. Kim Lewis during the day, please contact Nathaniel Martin to book a slot. There will also be an opportunity to meet Kim informally over some drinks after the talk.
