Dutch Alumni Event in Rome & Milan

The collaborating Dutch universities: Leiden University, Utrecht University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, along with the Dutch University Institute for Art History in Florence (NIKI) invite alumni to attend an evening of academic discussion and networking.

There will be two alumni events in Italy: one in Rome on 8 November and one in Milan on 9 November. The meeting in Rome will be hosted by the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome (KNIR), and the one in Milan is hosted by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Places at both venues are limited, please register a.s.a.p. and before 30 October to confirm your attendance.

Programm: 
Both in Rome and Milan Professor Michael Kwakkelstein will present the keynote lecture “Leonardo as an Anatomist”, followed by Q&A. Prof. Kwakkelstein is director of the NIKI in Florence and professor of Art History at Utrecht University, specialized in the visual arts and art theory of the Renaissance in Italy with particular emphasis on Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519).

In Rome, the director of the KNIR, Professor Tesse Stek will introduce the evening. In Milan, consul general Mrs. Mascha Baak will introduce the evening. 

The events are free of charge.

18.30 pm: Welcome by professor Tesse Stek, director KNIR and professor in the Archeology of the Western Mediterranean at Groningen University
18.50 Lecture “Leonardo as an anatomist” by professor Michael Kwakkelstein, director Dutch University Institute for Art History (NIKI) in Florence, professor of Art History at Utrecht University. Followed by Q&A.
19:30 pm: Networking, drinks & bites
21.00 pm: End of programme
