Would you like to commit yourself to a more sustainable city? You're not alone. We at Jong Duurzaam Den Haag (Young Sustainable The Hague) are a group of young adults who have recently started building our new sustainability team. Our goal is to connect in the field of sustainability. Our vision is to connect people by rolling up our sleeves together. Everyone is welcome, even if you are not a sustainability fanatic, but still want to see what you can do. We are accessible and fun is always our priority.

That is why as our first event we are organizing a cutting exchange in the Zeeheldentuin in The Hague on Sunday 21 May between 13:00 and 16:00. During the event you are welcome to bring your own cuttings to exchange. We are also going to make clay seed bombs that we can spread around the city. Guerrilla gardening!

You are very welcome to come by and have a chat with us. We are still in the process of building our team. We can use all the help we can get!

Why a cutting exchange?

A cutting exchange is a super fun way to get in touch with each other around a shared interest: green! Who doesn't like new plants? But it also has a greater purpose. Did you know that houseplants are not always as sustainable as they seem? The emission of indoor plants can be very dependent on where, when and how intensive they are. If we use cuttings from our existing plants, it is actually always more sustainable!

Make your own cuttings

You can easily grow cuttings of most houseplants yourself. Take the Chinese Money Plant plant for example, it practically does the work for you. You just need to gently loosen them and replant them. You can read all about making your own cuttings on the website of Natuur & Milieu (in Dutch).
