Poetry night: A City Suspended between Ashes and the Sea // Mariam Al Khateeb & Nour Elborno

Mariam Mohammed Al Khateeb is a Palestinian dentistry student, poet, writer, translator, and community activist. A survivor of genocide from Gaza, she is currently continuing her studies in Egypt. Her work has been published in This Week in Palestine, Avery Review, We Are Not Numbers, TRT World, and Palestine Deep Dive. She represented Palestinian civil society as a Youth Ambassador in Japan and participated in the global Hult Prize competition. Her writing focuses on poetry and essays exploring memory, survival, and the body as forms of resistance. She has contributed to several collective books and anthologies, and her work has been translated into more than eight languages, including Dutch, English, and Italian, among others.

Nour Elborno is a published author, English literature lecturer and sworn legal translator.

مريم محمد الخطيب، طالبة طب أسنان فلسطينية، شاعرة، كاتبة، مترجمة، وناشطة مجتمعية. ناجية من الإبادة في غزة، وتواصل دراستها حاليًا في مصر. نُشرت أعمالها في منصات مثل: This Week in Palestine، Avery Review، We Are Not Numbers، TRT World، وPalestine Deep Dive. مثّلت المجتمع المدني الفلسطيني كسفيرة شبابية في اليابان، وشاركت في مسابقة “Hult Prize” العالمية. تركز كتاباتها على الشعر والمقالات التي تستكشف الذاكرة والنجاة والجسد كأشكال من المقاومة. شاركت في عدد من الكتب والمختارات الشعرية والأدبية، وتُرجمت أعمالها إلى أكثر من ثماني لغات، منها الهولندية والإنجليزية والإيطالية وغيرها.

نور مؤلفة ناشرة ومحاضرة في الأدب الإنجليزي وهي مترجمة محلفة من وزارة العدل الفلسطينية.
