Quality assurance at the Academic Language Centre

The high standards set by the Academic Language Centre are attested by the following quality labels and memberships.

Quality labels and memberships of the ATC

The Academic Language Centre is a member of the Dutch-Belgian Association of Language Teaching in Higher Education (NUT), the forum for language centres in the Netherlands and Flanders. The NUT facilitates and enables the exchange of knowledge and experiences between language centres, and also organises an annual conference for all its members, a theme day for managers and a study day for teachers.

A number of theme groups focus on specific areas within the NUT: Dutch as a Second Language (NT2), Modern Foreign Languages, Translations, Academic Language Skills and Intercultural Communication.

The Academic Language Centre is also a member of CercleS, the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education. The various activities of CercleS include organising a biennial conference, and publications based on presentations given at these conferences are published in the Language Learning in Higher Education series (De Gruyter).

DUO and UAF |Civic Integration courses

The growing number of refugees, including refugee students, means that the Academic Language Centre is increasingly asked to provide civic integration courses. The Centre is working in conjunction with the Education Executive Agency (DUO) and the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF) to expand the range of Dutch language courses and tailor them to the specific requirements of this group.

ATC holds the 'Blik op Werk' quality label for employment-related services:
