Important!

From January 2026, Universiteit Leiden will be switching to a new administrative system. This means there will be a transition period during which it will not be possible to register.

From 30 November: registration by invoice (employer payment) will no longer be possible.

From 15 December: registration will no longer be possible.

From 5 January: you can register again.

Please note: cancellations after 30 November are still possible, but refunds may take several weeks to process.

The Academic Language Centre (ATC) is the language centre of Leiden University. As the oldest university language centre in the Netherlands, we offer language courses in a wide range of languages, both for beginners and advanced students. All courses are carefully compiled and focus on different language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading), with cultural aspects also covered. Our teachers specialise in language teaching meant for higher education. Quality of teaching is paramount at ATC.

If the language of your choice is not listed, please contact us for options about custom-made language training.

You can also come to the ATC to learn about writing texts or preparing for a presentation. We offer courses in Academic Skills in both Dutch and English.
