COMMITTEE POSITIONS

STUDENT MEMBERS

The Green Team will be an advisory body to the Sustainable Operations Coordinator and the Strategy and Education Coordinator. It can provide solicited or unsolicited advice and other input to these coordinators. If a new plan is being formulated in the board, the Green team will be asked for its opinions on the matter. But the Green Team is not restricted to that, it also has the right to work out a notion on its own and propose it to the two coordinators. 

The advice will primarily be focused in the areas of operations, strategy, and education. The team can also provide feedback on the ongoing projects of the coordinators. In order to make sure the team has a clear overview of the ideas and opinions from the students, they are encouraged to actively engage with them. This is the responsibility of the Green team members themselves. The engagement could be done through setting up meetings with fellow faculty members, spreading questionnaires, etc. 

Hours per week: 2

Profile: We are looking for students from any study background. 

Other requirements: The students must be enrolled at Leiden University at least until July 2023. Fluency in English and knowledge of Dutch is strongly preferred.

Social Media Manager

The Social Media Manager would work in a small team with the Communication Coordinator and the Visibility & Outreach Coordinator to create engaging content for the online and physical communication platforms as well as promote the community-related events when they occur (online and physical). 

The Social Media Manager would especially aid in creating material for socials and posters, as well as the newsletter, and be present for the joint information markets organised by Communication and Visibility.  

The Social Media Manager might also work on occasion work closely with the Community and Visibility teams. 

Hours per week: 2-4 hours, subject to week. 

Profile: We are looking for a student from any study background, with excellent English and writing and graphic design skills, who is organised and creative. Preferable skills: Canva, Adobe platforms (especially Illustrator and InDesign), MailChimp and the like. 

Other requirements: The assistant must be a student at Leiden University, expected to be enrolled/hired until at least July 2023.

PODCAST EDITOR

The podcast editor will work closely with the community coordinator and podcast host to ensure no detail is overlooked once recording is wrapped up. The editor does everything from the moment the audio files are received to the episode being posted on relevant podcast platforms. This includes editing the audio files to clean up the audio, adding intros/outros, and removing any long pauses or fillers. The podcast editor will also write the show notes and upload the finished episode.  

The community coordinator of LUGO will take on a producer role managing the production schedule and ensuring the team has the resources they need. As part of a small team, the podcast editor can also contribute to the creative vision of the podcast. 

Hours per week: 2-4  

Profile: We are looking for a student from any study background, who is a detail-oriented team player and able to meet deadlines. The podcast editor should be well organised, have knowledge of relevant music/sound/podcast editing software, and know their way around podcast hosting platforms (or be willing to learn!). Previous podcast editing experience is a plus.  

Other requirements: The podcast editor must be a student or staff member of Leiden University, expected to be enrolled/hired until at least July 2023. Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

PROJECT MANAGER, STAFF FOCUSED

The staff focused project manager will work in a small team with another project manager to engage students and staff in sustainability events hosted by LUGO. This role will be more focused on engaging staff, while the other project manager will work on engaging students. Sometimes both project managers will work together to target both groups, and other times separate events will be created to cater to the different needs, knowledge levels, and interests of the two groups.  

The project managers will take care of LUGO events all the way from brainstorming to finding guest speakers, appropriate venues, and set-up on the day of the event itself, not missing any detail along the way.  

The community coordinator of LUGO will also work closely with the project manager team. 

Hours per week: 2-4, depending on the week. The weeks in which events take place can be busier.  

Profile: We are looking for a student from any study background, who is a detail oriented and out-of-the-box thinker. The project manager should work well in a team, exhibit good social and networking skills, and be well organised. Previous experience with events is a plus. 

Other requirements: The project manager must be a student or staff member of Leiden University, expected to be enrolled/hired until at least July 2023. Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

PODCAST HOST

The podcast host sets the tone of LUGO’s podcast, featuring in each episode as the moderator for episodes with guests, or the main speaker for other types of episodes. The host prepares for interviews by conducting pre-interviews and coming up with questions and takes on script writing and delivery where relevant.  

The community coordinator of LUGO will take on a producer role managing the production schedule and ensuring the team has the resources they need. As part of a small team, the podcast host can also contribute to the creative vision of the podcast.  

Hours per week: 2-4  

Profile: We are looking for a student from any study background, who is a creative, a team player, and possesses strong social skills. The podcast host should be a charismatic and strong conversationalist, who is curious, able to ask insightful questions, and build rapport with guests. Any relevant interviewing or public speaking experience is seen as a plus. 

Other requirements: The podcast host must be a student or staff member of Leiden University, expected to be enrolled/hired until at least July 2023. Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

INTERNAL VISIBILITY TEAM

The Internal Visibility team will consist of two people working closely with the Outreach &Visibility coordinator to strategically increase LUGO’s visibility and reach within the University - in Leiden as well as The Hague. As a team, you will: 

  1.  Ideate and execute diverse collaborations with organizations in the form of events/long-term projects 

  1. Set up information-stands on campus   

  1. Create a visibility plan with the rest of the team which focuses on sustainable collaborative projects (this could also be your own personal project) 

  1. Weekly meetings with the rest of the team.

Hours per week: 2-4 hours, subject to week. 

Profile: We are looking for students from any study background, with strong social, organizational, and communication skills, who are especially creative and like socializing/networking. Students who would identify themselves as dynamic thinkers with a specific passion for initiating, conceptualizing, planning, and executing collaborative projects. Students with prior work experience in organizational or marketing-related roles are preferred. 

Other requirements: The students must be enrolled at Leiden University at least until July 2023. Fluency in English and knowledge of Dutch is strongly preferred. Must have a working Leiden University email. Must be able to travel between Leiden and The Hague.  

Application requirements: CV and brief motivation (max. 500 words) explaining why you would like to be a part of LUGO, and 1 idea for a project you would like to work on that would help with LUGO’s sustainability. Second interview (if shortlisted) to test compatibility as a team.

EXTERNAL OUTREACH TEAM

The External Outreach team will consist of two people working closely with the Outreach &Visibility coordinator to establish LUGO’s presence within an external network of sustainable organizations and green initiatives across Europe. As a team, you will: 

  1. Actively participate in external activities/events organized by a network of sustainability-minded people/organizations, including other Green Offices 

  1. Attend periodical meetings of organizations where LUGO is a member (e.g., Studenten Voor Morgen)  

  1. Create an Outreach plan with the rest of the team which focuses on sustainable collaborative projects (this could also be your own personal project) 

  1. Weekly meetings with the rest of the team. 

Hours per week: 2-4 hours, subject to week.

EDITORIAL COMMITTEE

The LUGO Press is a student publication forum, rooted in academia and journalistic practices and published by the Leiden University Green Office. Its main goal is to encourage high-quality pieces by student writers, illustrators and editors on sustainability-related topics. 

We are searching for individuals to contribute to the LUGO Press by forming part of the editorial committee. Editors would work closely with their assigned writers to enhance the quality of the submitted written work, as well as with the Communication Coordinator (Editor-In-Chief of the LUGO Press).

We are searching for individuals to consistently contribute to the LUGO Press with their writing and essays. Writers would work closely with illustrators and their assigned editor.
