Do I need to show identification when entering the building?

From March 2024 onwards, security checks may take place in the evenings at the entrance of the Lipsius building.

• Students and staff must show their LU‑card.
• Course participants who are not students or staff must show their course confirmation email.

If you cannot show proof of identity or enrolment, you may get denied access to the building.

Where can I park my bicycle?

During the day, bicycles can be parked in:

• the Reuvens building bicycle parking, or
• the bicycle parking underneath the Lipsius building.

It is no longer permitted to park bicycles in front of the Lipsius building. If you are attending an evening course, you may park your bicycle in the bike racks next to the University Library, or in the bike parking at the Herta Mohr-building.

Who can enrol in a course?

Everyone aged 17 and over is welcome. Students and staff of Leiden University receive a discounted course fee.

How does the registration and cancellation procedure work?

Can I take a course for academic credit (ECTS)?

No. LAK Creative Courses are not part of an accredited university programme and therefore do not award ECTS credits.

Is there Wi Fi in the building?

Yes. The Wi‑Fi code and instructions can be found on the screen opposite the main reception desk. Please note: access is valid for one day only, so you will need to log in again each time you visit. We recommend arriving a little earlier to arrange this.

Will I receive an LU card / student ID card?

No. You only receive an LU‑card if you are student or staff at Leiden University.

How can I pay for my course?

Payments can be made via:

• iDeal/Wero
• Credit card

Pin (debit card) and cash payments are not possible, except for room/space rental.

Can I pay via Tikkie or a manual bank transfer?

No, this is unfortunately not possible.

Can I pay in instalments?

No, instalment payments are not offered.

Someone else is paying for my course. How does that work?

In the course portal, you can indicate that a company, organisation or employer will pay the fee. We will then send the invoice directly to that party.

What if I miss a lesson?

Unfortunately, missed lessons cannot be rescheduled or made up at another time. You may contact your teacher to ask which material you can catch up on or prepare independently.

Where do the courses take place?

All classes take place in the Lipsius building:
Cleveringaplaats 1, 2311 BD Leiden.

The exact classroom or studio will always be stated in your course confirmation email.

Can I park near the Lipsius building?

There is no parking available directly at Lipsius.
Nearby paid parking options include:

• Maliebaan (street parking)
• Haagweg Parking (with free shuttle bus to the city centre)

Reaching the location by public transport

From Leiden Central Station:

• approx. 10 minutes walking
• Bus 1 → stop Paterstraat
• Bus 5 or 6 → stop Noordeinde

Travelling from Schiphol Airport?

Trains run several times per hour from Schiphol to Leiden Central.
Travel time: 15–20 minutes.
