Law

We are very happy to welcome you to Leiden Law School to spend a semester or year studying with us. Here you can find information on course registration, schedules and more.

Leiden Law School offers an extensive range of English-taught law courses at undergraduate level.

Specially adapted law courses

Many courses have a specially adapted timetable with early exams and minimal course overlap, making them ideal for exchange and study-abroad students. In the online prospectus these have a catalogue number starting with 22989.

Other Law courses

You may also follow law courses with a different catalogue number, i.e. not starting with 22989, as long as these are open to exchange students in the prospectus. But be aware that they may have overlapping classes or later exams.

Course Selection

Before selecting your courses, please ensure that you:

  1. Check Entry Requirements: Verify that you meet all prerequisites and entry requirements for each course. This information can be found in the online prospectus. Meeting the prerequisites is essential to ensure you are adequately prepared for the course content and workload.
  2. Selecting your courses: When selecting your courses, please keep the following in mind: carefully consider your course choices as changes will be difficult to make once registration is complete. Ensure the courses align with your academic goals and schedule. Course changes after registration will only be permitted in the case of scheduling conflicts.

Your attention to these details will help facilitate a smooth registration process and contribute to your academic success. Thank you for your cooperation.

The courses take place at different locations:

Approximately 1,5 months before the start of your classes, the Office for International Education will register you for these classes. Please do not register for courses yourself. Workgroups (seminars) are indicated with a W or WGR, lectures are indicated with LEC and exams are marked with TEN.

You will receive an automated email in your uMail account once you are registered on a course.

Check your course registrations

Two weeks before the start of the semester, log into uSis and make sure you are definitely registered on all your courses. If this is not the case, please contact Leiden Law School's incoming exchange coordinator.

Once you have been registered for your courses, you should be able to see your course schedule in My Timetable. Changes can occur, so always check the latest schedule, via My Timetable, or on the screens in faculty buildings.

In order to be able to process your exam results, you need to be registered in advance for all exams and retakes. You may not enter an exam without being registered.

Exam registration

The Office for International Education at Leiden Law School will register you for your exams. There is no need to register for exams yourself. However, please notify us by email (indicating your name and student number) in case of any changes.

You will receive an automated email in your uMail account once you are registered for an exam.
