On Monday 15 May, 14.15-16:00, Joao Nataf gave a guest lecture to third year bachelor students in the honours course “The Impact of Global Transformations on Violence”, coordinated by GTGC’s Deputy Coordinator Valentina Carraro. Mr. Nataf is the Secretary of the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) at the Human Rights Treaties Branch of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
On 15 May, 13:00-14:00, Antonella Maiello presented her article titled “In, Out or Beyond? Waste Pickers and Policy Networks: A Story from Jardim Gramacho (Rio de Janeiro)” during the GTGC lunch seminar.
On 12 May, GTGC Deputy Coordinator Valentina Carraro presented her work during the symposium “EU Crises: Rethinking European integration theories” at Maastricht University. The symposium was organised as part of the farewell event for the retirement of Prof. Tannelie Blom.

On 29 April 2023, Jan Aart Scholte and co-researcher Hortense Jongen presented their research on legitimacy in multistakeholder global governance to the Board of Directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in Brussels.

Eve Darian-Smith and Phil McCarty presented their book 'The Global Turn Theories, Research Designs, and Methods for Global Studies' during a book presentation seminar.
What does it mean to do “global research”? Global studies is an emerging field that focuses on transboundary, international, and global processes and systems, such as climate change, global social media, and globalization. These issues call for researchers to think beyond conventional state actors or any individual disciplines. Global studies represent a holistic approach that aims to understand contemporary global issues from multi-disciplinary, multi-level, and interactive perspectives.
