Leiden Leadership Centre
About
The Leiden Leadership Centre intends to make a significant contribution to the quality of leadership. The centre strives to contribute to the theory behind leadership as well as its practical application, and does so through action research, education and leadership development.
The LLC offers a platform where leadership can be learnt, leadership skills develop and experiments with new perspectives and different ways of doing things are facilitated. Today's rapidly changing world calls for connective, adaptive and learning leadership.
Internationally focused
The LLC operates in a network environment, where it works closely with partners from various disciplines, sectors, countries and continents. As chair of the Public Leadership group of the International Leadership Association (ILA), the LLC was actively involved in preparing content for the Association's Annual Conference in Barcelona, which took place in mid-October 2015. The International Leadership Association also organises frequent webinars and collaborates closely with the International Journal of Public Leadership.
In 2013 the LLC organised the international conference 'Exploring Leadership Roles for Local Peace and Global Justice' in collaboration with the International Leadership Association and the municipality of The Hague. This conference, chaired by Professor Erwin Schwella, Professor of Public Leadership, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and fellow of the LLC, has put Peace Leadership firmly on the agenda. The Peace Leadership Member Affinity Group has since been established within the International Leadership Association.
