Meet our new Assistant Director for Egyptology & Archaeology!

We are happy to introduce our new Assistant Director for Egyptology & Archaeology: Dr Ariel Singer

Ariel received her PhD in Egyptology from the University of Chicago in 2024. Her dissertation, "Decoding the Cranial Lexicon: Unraveling Ancient Egyptian Perceptions of the Head through Anatomical Terminology," examined the ancient Egyptians' understanding of anatomy in language. She spent multiple seasons as an epigrapher with the Epigraphic Survey in Luxor, primarily at Medinet Habu and Luxor Temples, where she contributed to the development of a digital collation system and publication prototype. Ariel also worked for the Chicago Demotic Dictionary, and more recently joined the Wadi el-Hudi expedition to document stelae from the desert mining site. She was a fellow at the American Research Center in Egypt, focusing on reused Ramesside blocks in Khonsu Temple.

We are excited that Ariel is joining the NVIC team and look forward to working with her!
