A green Schouwburgstraat Garden!
LUGO, the green office of Leiden University recently started the transformation of the Schouwburgstraat garden.
The garden plan was prepared by LUGO. It is based on a design by Urban Studies students and entails for example:
- perennial (native) plants, herbs and flower bulbs, such as daisies, columbines, red clovers, and bellflowers
- removing tiles
- placing a rain barrel
- a vertical garden
- and adding birdhouses and bee hotels.
Students and staff can enjoy the renewed garden from one of the beautiful regreened sitting areas from spring 2024.
