The Dual PhD Centre offers extra support to a special group of PhD candidates at Leiden University: Dual PhD candidates.
Dual PhD candidates are professionals with one foot in professional practice and the other in academia. They conduct PhD research on a theme that relates to their professional practice, without compromising on academic quality. At the same time, they work in a demanding job.
These special researchers are not a particular point of focus at many universities, but Leiden University takes a different approach. Leiden University sees Dual PhD candidates as an important link between society and academia, bringing interesting questions into academic research and ensuring that academic knowledge rapidly circulates in their profession.
