New medicines thanks to interdisciplinary collaboration

Leiden researchers conduct unique and internationally distinctive interdisciplinary research in the field of discovering and developing new medicines. Their research focuses on new targets, new molecules, and new concepts that can lead to the development of innovative medicines and diagnostic tests.

We have some internationally acclaimed researchers who are active in specific areas within these three themes. Our multidisciplinary approach, as well as the availability of biobanks, patient databases, and facilities for the production of drugs are essential for the discovery of new disease mechanisms, new drug targets, and high-quality drug development. Investments in this field can help reinforce the links on the Leiden Bio Science Park.
