Brain and Education Lab
In the Brain and Education Lab we study the development of complex cognitive processes involved in skills such as learning, reading and math. We use a Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience approach to explore the mechanisms that underlie change in these areas of cognitive development and we try to relate these to brain development on the one hand, and to the development of interventions and other educational applications, on the other hand.
By pursuing these interests the members of the lab hope to contribute to the emerging field of Educational Neuroscience. This interdisciplinary field attempts to address questions that go beyond the questions that neuroscience and education research alone can address. Educational Neuroscience research holds the potential to result in insights that are valuable to both fields and can lead to the development of interventions methods, or materials that can be used in schools or other educational settings.
