Information for users
In view of the coming relocation, it is good to point out several house rules. We have known some of them for many years, but there are some new rules as well.
Policy on coffee/tea making facilities
Since 2008, the university has a strict policy on the use of coffee- and tea making facilities, microwaves etc. at the workplace. Because of the lack of enough pantries in the old situation we sometimes turned a blind eye on this. In the new situation we will have more than enough pantries, that will be supplied with coffee- and tea making facilities bought by the university and in some cases also with a microwave. It will no longer be permitted to have this kind of facilities in your room. This will be monitored and all facilities found will be removed.
Courtyard
The Wijnhaven building has a courtyard for staff, teachers, students and visitors. In the courtyard, students may study in a relaxed way in one of the 350 sun-/study spaces, lying in the grass or on one of the chairs on the terrace.
There will be a separate (covered) smoking area in the courtyard.
Lockers
On the ground floor, second and third floor of the building you will find a large number of lockers which may be used by staff and students with their LU-card. There are no costs involved in using these lockers. Every day at 24.00 all lockers will be unlocked so as to avoid long-term use by one person.
Elevators
Using the elevator in the Wijnhaven-building is only permitted for disabled persons and for transporting goods that cannot be transported using the stairs. Using the elevator in the Schouwburgstraat is permitted for everyone, but please take into account that the elevator may beneeded for disabled persons as well as for the transport of goods that cannot be moved using the stairs.
Access
The (main) entrance of the Wijnhaven-building is on the Turfmarkt-side. You can also enter the building through the bicycle park (side entrance, Lage Zand). The (main) entrance of the Schouwburgstraat-building is on the Schouwburgstraat-side. It is not possible to enter this building through another entrance.
Bicycle and car park
Nothing will change with respect to parking. A Q-park will be realised under the Wijnhaven-building. There are no reserved places for staff and/or visitors of the University.
The entrance for cyclists in the Wijnhaven-building is in the Lage Zand and may be opened with a LU-card. The entrance for cyclists in the Schouwburgstraat is on the right side next to the main entrance (Schouwburgstraat) and may be opened with a LU-card.
Visitors
Visitors must always report to the reception of the building concerned. As in the Wijnhaven-building the entrance doors to the floors where the staff is housed will be secured, you should pick up your guests at the reception area. In the Schouwburgstraat visitors may be sent to the right floor and room.
Temperature control
The Wijnhaven-building has a centrally regulated temperature. Windows may be opened a little to let in some fresh air.
Waste
In each room and in each open structure waste- and paper bins will be placed, so that these will always be close to you. You should put your waste in them yourself. Waste that will be put near the door of the room or in the corridors will not be collected. If you have a large amount of waste or waste of a specific nature, you may inform the Servicedesk in the usual way, and then it will be collected and disposed of.
Mounting paintings and whiteboards
It is strictly forbidden to drill in the walls! Special sets are available at the Servicedesk with which you can easily mount your whiteboards, paintings etc.
