Course description
Modern Greek 6 is intended for participants who have reached level B1.1 in Greek. From the very beginning, all communication in class takes place entirely in Greek. The following topics, among others, are covered: work, education, media, culture, holidays and festivals. Ample attention is given to vocabulary, but grammar is also an important focus. Using Greek texts, we explore the past tense in greater depth. All language skills are practised: speaking, writing, reading and listening. In addition, attention is paid to the cultural context of Greece and Cyprus.
After completing this course, participants will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions from clear, standard texts about familiar topics that regularly occur in daily life. They will also be able to produce simple, connected texts on subjects that are familiar or of personal interest.
The course makes use of the digital learning environment Brightspace. Within this learning environment you will find the homework and additional learning materials. Course participants are expected to prepare the lessons at home (approximately three hours per lesson).
The course is concluded with a test. A certificate is awarded if the test is completed successfully and the participant has attended 80% of the lessons. If you will be absent for more lessons, please contact your teacher or talencentrum@hum.leidenuniv.nl.
