Exhibition of student works "TIME", June 26 - 29
We are delighted that our annual "Science to Experience" exhibition will again be hosted by the V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media, June 26-29. Students were challenged to communicate their own science-inspired statements as experiences within the exhibition, this year along the theme "TIME".
All are cordially invited to attend the public project exhibition by students of the Media Technology MSc program. In small groups and through their own process, these students have created experiences for a public audience, this year around the theme "Time".
TIME is the resulting exhibition with 8 works, each with a different take on the overall theme.

V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media
As in previous editions, the exhibition is presented by the V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media, an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam. V2_ presents, produces, archives and publishes research at the interface of art, technology and society, and offers a platform for artists, designers, scientists, theorists, and developers from various disciplines to discuss their work and share their findings. It aims to create a context in which issues regarding the social impact of technology are explored through critical dialogue, artistic reflection and practice-oriented research.

Parallel Events
During the exhibition period we organise two parallel events, near the V2_ gallery space. These events offer insight into the Media Technology MSC / Creative Intelligence & Technology MSc program, and are open to the public free-of-charge.
Public Graduation Presentations
On Friday June 27, three of our graduates will give their public graduation research presentation parallel to our exhibition at V2_ in Rotterdam. All arfe welcome to attend! Read more here.

Science to Experience
The course Science to Experience is a good example of the general approach of the Media Technology MSc program: students are challenged to translate their own science-inspired statements into works that communicate these statements as experiences within the exhibition. We find that modern researchers must be capable of creating installations, games, books, etcetera as meaningful output of their academic research.

Works in the Exhibition
The following eight student works can be experienced at the public exhibition.
SNACKTIME
— Mats Doornbos, Timothy Schuur, Payman Sipass
Hungry from looking around the exhibition? Stop by at our vending machine and get something to eat! Unfortunately, our coin receptacle isn’t working so you’ll have to pay with your time. Find out how much your time is really worth while waiting for your snack to be dispensed.
MY TIME ≠ YOUR TIME
— Mayar Abdalla, Amini Hamuli, Matúš Majer
Have you ever felt the pressure to meet certain milestones by a specific age? You’re not alone! Ideally, everyone would have equal time to lead their desired lives, but that is not always the case. Explore the relationship between chrononormativity and time inequality through this analog multiplayer life simulation game.
TILL TIME DO US PART
— Finnegan Buck, Gürhan Hyusmen, Petra Strebel
This interactive installation looks at how our identity changes over time. As you walk down the red carpet toward the mirrored screen you watch your face transform through different ages. When the mirror fractures, it shows multiple versions of yourself at once. This reveals that we aren't one fixed person but different selves over time, along with all the other selves we might have become.
COLUMN OF CULPABILITY
— Miruna Cotfas, Alice Grama, Justin Oosterbaan
Experience moving stories, shaped by time itself, where the shift in temporal grammar changes meaning. As language peels back its layers, the echoes of the past turn to the blur of timelessness. Rotate the column and judge for yourself how time expressed in grammar can influence if, when and how strongly you attribute blame.
REWILDING FUTURES
— Lisa Huurman, Juno Reuvers, Lisa Vrijdag
Rewilding Futures is an immersive installation exploring how nature reclaims its space over time. Journey through a healing ocean, a forest-invaded suburb, and a cyberpunk city turning green with plant-powered robots. Witness rewilding in action—hopeful, strange, and alive. Come see what happens when time dilates, the wild rewrites the rules, and ecosystems evolve!
TODAY I…
— Amy Guijt, Paul Hulsebosch, Emile Velthuis
This installation explores the paradox of modern efficiency: despite time-saving technologies, we don’t necessarily gain more free time. By displaying twelve old and new daily objects, it questions whether we truly save time or simply fill it with different tasks. The work invites reflection on how technology reshapes our daily lives.
A BORED GAME
— Anne Schröder, Dailenn Thieme, Yuning Yao
Everyone knows the feeling of boredom, but can you describe it? Boredom might be more complicated than you think. Play our game and find out how long you can remain bored and which type of boredom finds you.
PULSE CLASH
— Rocio González, Ana Souto Neves, Abdolrahim Tooranian
Pulse Clash is an interactive game where your heartbeat sets your opponent’s challenge. Players tap flashing buttons of which the timing is determined by their opponent’s BPM, creating a feedback loop of timing, control, and mutual influence. The experience is collectively determined by you and your opponent—where action changes pulse, and pulse shapes the game’s difficulty for each player.
"Creative Intelligence & Technology" or "Media Technology"?
"Creative Intelligence & Technology" is the new name of the Media Technology MSc programme. It better captures the focus of the program. The programme's curriculum changes slightly per September 1 2025, but retains the characteristics of self-driven and playful research that shaped the Media Technology MSc program since 2001.
