Publishing decisions are rarely straightforward. How to navigate competing considerations such as publication costs, reaching different audiences, international visibility, journal prestige, open data, and local community engagement? What values drive these decisions, and which opposing incentives, conflicting policies, or practical hurdles turn these choices into difficult dilemmas?
Through a series of recognizable scenarios, this workshop invites researchers at all career stages to reflect on the values, trade-offs, and competing pressures that shape how research is communicated, shared, and preserved.
