On Thursday 24 June HE Mr Mayerfas and Cultural Attache Mr Din Wahid visited Leiden University to meet with President Annetje Ottow.

Leiden University and the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) signed an agreement to formalise the renewed collaboration on education and research. MoRA aims to develop and improve their quality of religious Higher Education Institutions under their Ministry through this collaboration. The scope of the collaboration will cover all disciplines at Leiden University.

Everyone can study at Leiden University, at all stages of life: as undergraduate, master or doctoral students in Leiden or The Hague, or short courses with a choice of interesting and diverse subjects. In fact, by sitting in front of a computer at home, now you also take part in free online programs such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) .

Leiden University offers more than 78 master's programmes in various fields taught in English. Tuition fees for master programmes range from 15,000 - 25,000 euros / year depending on the chosen study programme.

Leiden University was founded in 1575 and is one of Europe’s leading international research universities. It has seven faculties in the arts, humanities and sciences, spread over locations in Leiden and The Hague. The University has over 6,700 staff members and 29,520 students. The motto of the University is 'Praesidium Libertatis' – Bastion of Freedom.

President of the Executive Board, Luc Sels, along with university members, welcomed Ambassador Laurentius Amrih Jinangkung and delegation in Leiden University on 15 April 2026. The visit was part of continued efforts to enhance bilateral ties between Indonesia and the Netherlands, particularly in higher education and research.
