Position Papers
At the Young Academy Leiden, we are closely engaged with the everyday practice of scientific research and education. From this perspective, we also contribute to the wider conversation on policy. In our policy work, we aim to be an independent and constructive voice, sensitive to current developments, while keeping long-term perspectives in mind. Through position papers, we share our views on policy issues and the values that should guide them.

Annual reports
Every year the Young Academy Leiden publishes and presents its annual report about the last calendar year. In the report, you can find an overview of the activities and projects in the preceding year, information about structure and organisation, reflections on our objectives, and plans for the future.

Workgroups
The mission of the Young Academy Leiden centers around three pillars: interdisciplinarity, science and education policy, and outreach. In addition, we have a community & communication workgroup that serves as an umbrella.

Admission and selection
Every year, the Young Academy Leiden looks for new members. We alternate between an open vacancy, to which candidates can apply, and nomination by the Faculty Boards and the Executive Board of LUMC.

LEGO 'show-us-what-you-do' challenge
The members of Young Academy Leiden do research on a large variety of topics. In our first (and perhaps only) LEGO ‘show-us-what-you-do’ challenge, they all made a short movie on their own research, using only LEGO. Watch their movies here.
