Would you like to enable students in your course to collaborate with peers from another country and learn from different cultures and perspectives? This can be achieved without physical mobility through Virtual Exchange (VE).

In VE, students work together online on course-related tasks. They develop not only subject-specific knowledge, but also skills such as collaboration, digital communication, and intercultural understanding. VE offers all students access to an international learning experience, regardless of mobility constraints. In addition, it enriches course content by introducing alternative perspectives, for example on healthcare systems, behavioural issues, or mental health. 

In this MicroLab, you will work on integrating VE into your own course. You will explore didactical approaches, design a first outline, and exchange experiences with colleagues. This MicroLab was developed in collaboration with UNIC, a European university alliance.

In this workshop, we will dive into the world of educational videos together and explore what really makes these videos of high quality.

We start by exploring participants' views on what defines a good educational video. Using examples, we identify criteria of quality. We then introduce a theoretical framework in which these criteria are conveniently grouped into five dimensions. The participants use this to do further assessment of their own videos using a checklist that includes these five dimensions. 

During the joint discussion of the videos, the presenters will add an extra layer to the theoretical framework which may answer the question of why people sometimes judge the same product very differently in terms of quality. We will conclude the workshop with provocative questions that you will take home with you, so that afterwards you can reflect further on how to continue improving the quality of educational videos.

The Inclusive Teacher e-learning course offers a range of tools and tips to make student diversity a valuable asset, leading to more effective teaching and greater student success.

Most teachers already do a lot to promote inclusion. However, sometimes it is unclear how you can add to your skills set, or why certain teaching strategies could benefit (groups of) learners. As this course shows, inclusive teaching is often about making small, practical adjustments that lead to sustainable improvement. During the training, jointly hosted by Universiteit Leiden Academy (ULA) and Leiden Learning and Innovation Centre (LLInC), you will gain hands-on experience on how to design engaging teaching materials.
