Our current project Next444 focuses on the future of interdisciplinary research at Leiden University.

In line with the celebration of 444 years of existence of Leiden University, Young Academy Leiden looks towards the future and identifies three major themes that are already having major impact in our society and which are likely to shape the future of academia.

Data & Technology

This theme covers all aspects of big data, artificial intelligence, and workplace transformation.

Sustainability

This is understood in a broad sense, including climate change, global poverty, and well-being.

Equality, Fairness & Justice

This theme addresses economic, gender, or social inequality as well as aspects related to fair treatment and justice. 

We have multiple activities and initiatives related to our Next444 project, including participation during the Night of Discoveries  and announcement of new Interdisciplinary Activity Grants.
