About the (Senior) University Teaching Qualification
The UTQ, or in Dutch: ‘Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs, BKO’) is a mark of quality used by all Dutch universities. It functions as a reliable frame of reference with respect to your didactic skills. In addition to the initial qualification, there is the Senior Teaching Qualification (STQ or in Dutch: ‘Seniorkwalificatie Onderwijs, SKO’), aimed at experienced academics who contribute to education development.
To learn more about these qualifications, have a look at the information pages offered by the HR department. For both trajectories, we can support you on your journey, either through dedicated training modules as part of the initial University Teaching Qualification or using a more individualized approach through inspiration and coaching sessions during your Senior Teaching Qualification track. Participants outside Leiden University are also welcome to take part.
Starting a UTQ or STQ trajectory
Please know that training and coaching offered by LLInC is only part of your qualification trajectory, before applying to any training modules make sure to have contacted your faculty contact person (for the University Teaching Qualification) or, for the Senior Teaching Qualification, get in touch with the central assessment committee to get to know the specific procedure for your situation. Different faculties may have different procedures and your learning journey may be adapted depending on your situation, such as previous training.
