Update from the Programme Chair: Joost Augusteijn

With the new year and new semester upon us and with spring approaching despite the recent cold weather there is always an inclination to start new initiatives. An important example of this is the launch of our new website: ‘This is International Studies ’. This will be the platform at which all those interested in our programme, in particular staff and students, can find all the information relating to our programme in a wider sense.

This is International Studies

It will be the homepage for everything relating to our activities, as a place to share information for current students, alumni and others on a nice to know basis. It contains a diary of activities, a separate section on PRINS and one with information for alumni, as well as various news articles, like the long running ‘tutors in the wild’ feature, of which you will find an example in this newsletter.

Invitation to blog
Another promising new feature is the option to discuss issues affecting the programme in a blog. This will be open to students and staff alike and we look forward to your contributions. I hope you will visit our new news platform regularly. For the need to know information the university International Studies student website remains the point of departure.

Overview of Leiden University's Master's programmes
A final new feature I want to draw your attention to is the new page detailing information on the entry requirements for various master’s programmes here in Leiden. This will enable all to see what you need to do to qualify for the master’s programme of your choice: I hope it will prove to be helpful.

All that is left for me to do is to wish you a successful semester and a great spring,

Dr. Joost Augusteijn, Chair of the Programme Board
