First history of transnational relations and socialist policymaking in the early European parliament
Please join us for an event in which History Institute and MAIR colleagues comment on the first history of transnational relations and socialist policymaking in the early European parliament, just published by our own Brian Shaev. For those interested in why many socialists supported European integration after WWII—the influence they had and how they grappled with the policy side of European unity—this book presents a deep glimpse into the Socialist Group’s concrete vision for a Socialist Europe in the postwar era. Colleagues will each discuss a thematic chapter, including foreign policy, democracy and institutions, agriculture social policy, and cartel and competition policy.
