About the Event

Avi Shlaim, Emeritus Professor of International Relations at Oxford University and a Fellow of the British Academy, will offer students a masterclass about his latest book Three Worlds: Memoirs of an Arab-Jew. Weaving together the personal and the political, Three Worlds offers a fresh perspective on the lives of Arab-Jews, caught in the crossfire of Zionism and nationalism.

Prof Shlaim is one of Israel's "New Historians", a group of scholars who put forward critical interpretations of the history of Zionism and Israel. Previously Prof Shlaim wrote Lion of Jordan: The Life of King Hussein in War and Peace (2007), and is very well known for his seminal book The Iron Wall: Israel and the Arab World (first edition 1999).
