Sonia Dobkowska
Second year student
"I am the Vice President of ASTUS, our study association, which is a good place to meet fellow students and staff members. We plan lots of interesting and fun events, including guest lectures, field trips to other cities and within The Hague, and get togethers at the beach. The activities are quite diverse, we even have a gardening committee!"
Student city The Hague
The Hague is a truly international city and is known as the city of Peace and Justice. The city is the home of many international organisations, such as the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice. The private sector is also well represented: many multinationals have offices in the city. As the Dutch political capital, The Hague also hosts many foreign embassies. Its residents are an eclectic mix of native Dutch people, people from multicultural backgrounds, expats and, of course, an ever-increasing number of students.
Study Association ASTUS
ASTUS (Association for Students of Urban Studies) is a relatively young and growing study association. ASTUS's main goal is to strengthen the community, organise events, guest lectures, parties, discussion groups, running dinners and field trips. ASTUS also has their very own urban garden located in the city centre. For only a small membership fee, you support the organisation of events and receive benefits such as free drinks. For more information see the ASTUS website or the Instagram page.
