Sandwich scholars
Indonesia Sandwich Scholarship and academic recharching programme.
Leiden University and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (KITLV) welcome applications by Indonesian scholars to visit them for research purposes in the context of the Sandwich Scholarship and Academic Recharging programmes, both of which are fully funded by the Indonesian government through its Directorate-General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti).
Those interested in making such a visit, whether to the university or to the KITLV, should fill out this form.
In return for a fee of € 250 per visiting fellow per month, Leiden University and the KITLV will provide successful applicants with:
- a formal letter of invitation, enabling them to apply to the Indonesian Directorate-General of Higher Education for all the necessary funding for their visits;
- access to library facilities;
- access to consultation with one or more members of University or KITLV staff who can advise them on the substance and method of their research.
Please note that Leiden University and the KITLV are not able to provide any help with practical matters such as visas, transport, or accommodation.
