Telders Case

2026

Legal Consequences Arising from the Conduct and Policies of Gravenwald

In Legal Consequences Arising from the Conduct and Policies of Gravenwald, the Republic of Gravenwald finds its measures and actions scrutinized before the ICJ following a request for an advisory opinion by the Artificial Intelligence Governance Organization. The 49th Annual Telders International Law Moot Court Competition marks the first time in the competition’s history that the case before the ICJ takes the form of advisory opinion proceedings.

Participants will examine legal issues arising from AI-based visas and immigration measures, threats of anti-AI terrorist attacks, the independence of international organizations, and the ICJ's discretion to give an advisory opinion. The 2026 problem invites competitors to explore complex questions at the intersection of state sovereignty, human rights obligations, the elimination of racial discrimination, and the inviolability and immunities of international organizations.
